Economic and racial discrimination, an educational culture based on fear, and low expectations for student achievement are all barriers to effective teaching in today’s public schools. But Center for Inspired Teaching means to change all that. With the knowledge that teacher quality is one of the greatest predictors of adacemic success, it advocates for true educational reform by teaching teachers--over 5,000 of them!--to become innovative problem-solvers and strong communicators who can nurture the same qualities for over 125,000 students. Through in-depth training offered in several programs, teachers learn how to develop student self-discipline (so that precious time can be spent learning rather than punishing), build critical thinking skills, and help students feel safe in the classroom. Program graduates become reenergized educators who improve the emotional and intellectual climate of their classrooms and schools. A fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization with a big vision (its founder was recognized with a prestigious Ashoka Fellowship), Inspired Teaching is more in demand than ever: contracted by DCPS to mentor each of its new teachers, the organization is currently working with the District to reach even more local educators. Do you want to see lasting, systemic change in our schools? Then please help Inspired Teaching meet the growing demand for its critical services.
