Social change agents often express their thoughts in news stories, outdoor
rallies, and posters glued to walls. Provisions Library offers a record of this work,
and hopes, simultaneously, to cultivate the activist in each of us. Begun as an
experimental outpost where the public could access alternative publications
from around the world, the library now houses 350 periodicals, both domestic
and international, a magazine library of social commentary, and 4,000 volumes that cross disciplines all telling
the story of humankind’s quest for justice. In-depth exhibitions of socially engaged art, along with educational
programs and workshops, are central to the mission. The website features sections on cultural diversity, mobility
and migration, oppression, spirituality and psychology, work and class, each with links to resources such as films,
books and academic programs. International social activists and artists discuss their craft and these are broadcast
on the newly redesigned website. The library fosters reflection, challenges viewers to think critically, and invites
the imagination of new solutions. Help enlighten the world with your support of Provisions.
