Description of Volunteer Opportunities/Responsibilities:
Volunteers are key to Carpenter's success. More than 1,000 volunteers collectively devote 16,000 hours to our organization each year. Volunteer opportunities include: meal service providers 365 days a year, daily front desk/reception volunteers, children's hour volunteers, job mentoring volunteers, hypothermia and day shelter volunteers, special skills volunteers, medical support volunteers and tutors for our children.


Number of Volunteers: Over 1,000


Types of Volunteers Needed: Adult-individual; Adult-group; Teen (13 and up)-group; Holiday; Other


Training Requirements: All volunteers are required to attend our volunteer orientation before performing any volunteer service with Carpenter's Shelter.


Hours Needed: Weekday; Weekday Evening; Weekend Day; Weekend Evening.


Easily Accessible by Public Transportation: Yes

Ideas for a Team or Group Activity: Participating in a Day of Caring to assist in cleaning and organizing our kitchen and food pantry; lead a children's hour activity or field trip; provide pro bono assistance


Suggestions for a Drive to Benefit this Organization: Carpenter's Shelter relies on in-kind donations such as food, linen and toiletries. Drives which would benefit our clients include food drives, toiletries drives, holiday gift giving, blanket and linen drives.
