Description of Volunteer Opportunities/Responsibilities:
Break the Cycle's Young Professionals Leadership Committee is a volunteer auxiliary group that raises friends and funds for Break the Cycle. The Committee plans and promotes social gatherings to acquaint other young professionals with Break the Cycle's work through events like Bingo and our annual benefit, The Unmasquerade.
For volunteers seeking more hands on experience, or residency program enables individuals to educate students and help them achieve youth activism and become peer leaders. Break the Cycle's residency programs are implemented in local DC schools. This program, entitled Respect WORKS!, encompasses in-class presentations, after-school activities, staff training, parent engagement and guidance at the administrative level.
Our organization offers internships for individuals seeking to gain hands-on work experience while committing themselves to social change. Break the Cycle interns build skills that can be applied to careers in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. Available internships include positions in the legal, programs and policy fields.

Training Requirements: Using our [Ending Violence] curriculum, volunteers are given a two hour training on the basics of dating abuse. They are taught how to effectively engage youth in the topic of dating violence.

Suggestions for a Drive to Benefit this Organization: Our clients seeking legal services are often in dangerous situations without the possibility of contacting their attorney or emergency services. For this reason, a used cell phone drive would greatly benefit our clients by providing them with the ability to contact those who have the means to protect them.
