Top Banana Home Delivered Groceries, Inc.
WISH LIST: $100: 10 weeks of subsidized grocery service to a fragile low-income senior; $500: food, supplies and independence for 30 isolated seniors; $1000: gas for a full month of grocery service
The plight of the silent hungry – 58,000 residents of the Washington and Maryland metro areas who are elderly, disabled, or chronically ill – is what moves and motivates the team at Top Banana Home Delivered Groceries. Top Banana provides one essential service: grocery shopping and delivery. The service is simple yet transformative: clients place phone orders for fresh dairy, meats, produce, frozen foods, household items, and fresh-cooked favorites; food is bagged by “kind” (shelf, fridge, or freezer) and delivered right to the front door or kitchen counter. And unlike a for-profit delivery company, Top Banana delivers both groceries and a personal connection, offering friendly conversation and help with daily tasks. Drivers will loosen jar lids for arthritis sufferers, change light bulbs in the home, and check on clients’ well-being all year long. For 500 disabled and elderly people a year, supportive home deliveries are the key to dignity and independence. The population of frail elders is growing and Top Banana is capable of doubling deliveries to meet the need ... with your help.
