Mercy Health Clinic cares for those who have nowhere else to go. Removing the barriers of cost, language, and culture, it provides a “safety net” for 100,000 poor and uninsured residents of Montgomery County. Medical exams, lab tests, x-rays, medications, specialist care, chronic disease management, and preventive health care counseling – all these are available four days a week, with one day dedicated to specialty sub-clinics in gynecology, dermatology, orthopedics, psychiatry, ENT, cardiology, endocrinology, and urology. Referrals to additional specialists are also possible. Lifestyle and nutrition classes assist current patients in managing chronic diseases and educate others about preventive health care. Partners such as Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Washington Radiology, and Med Bank donate everything from x-rays to prescriptions, as well as an extraordinary level of volunteer commitment – doctors, nurses, registrars, interpreters, accountants, graphic designers, and purchasing specialists. The result? High-quality care and services at no cost to the patients. Recipients of the 2010 Adventist Care Partnership Award, the Mary C. Jackson award for outstanding Medical Director, and the Marriott Spirit to Serve Award, Mercy Clinic certainly deserves your caring support.
