Find your passion! That is the rallying cry of Passion for Learning – which strives to close the K-12 academic achievement gap through dynamic after-school programs for low-income Montgomery County students. P4L’s original programs continue to engage and excite: GRRL Tech (Girls Really, Really Love Technology) and Young Writers’ Academies improve technology and writing skills while sparking students’ interest in those career fields; and the new Dig.Lit program connects writing and computer literacy through media projects like creating a website or producing a short film about a community issue. Dig.Lit serves over 200 students at seven county public schools in some of the lowest income census tracts; two summer camps in journalism and digital arts engage with 40 more. All programs are free of charge. At P4L, students not only practice and build writing skills, they also become more invested in English and technology coursework at school; and older P4L students often return to share with and mentor the newcomers. With your support, each of these newcomers will surely find a new passion.
