commissions to create work from the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, and
the Washington Performing Arts Society–Dana Tai Soon Burgess & Co. is much

an Asian American aesthetic, the company uses dance as a creative medium for
enhancing social and cultural understanding. Audiences and critics have lavished praise on works ranging from the
experience of Korean immigrants in America to a cross-cultural relationship at the end of World War II. Audience
accessibility and interaction are important, so the artistic process always involves open rehearsals, discussion, and
outreach to youth audiences. Residencies and programs for DC schools and dance programs are also offered
