Over 100,000 hours of community service to increase nonprofit organizational
capacity; 6,000 volunteers working on over 80 hands-on projects, day in and day
out; 80 volunteers making 1-year commitments to tutor and mentor at 6
nonprofits these are snapshots of Greater DC Cares, where the real capital is
person power, pro bono consultation, brainpower, and heart. GDCC volunteers
increase the capacity of hundreds of nonprofits, addressing a wide range of pressing issues: at-risk youth, homelessness
and hunger, adult literacy, and more. Corporate executives complete a 9-hour training program and then provide
tailored services to neighborhood nonprofits. Volunteers from the technology, financial services, and human
resources fields work on specific capacity-building projects. MBAs provide pro-bono consulting in strategic planning,
market analysis, and Board development. Committed adults work with some of the most disadvantaged children
in the area. Families find opportunities for all ages, and teach by example the value of community service. You can
join the Greater DC corps of volunteers, or help them make this extraordinary array of services possible or both.
