The plight of AIDS orphans, abandoned children, and the impoverished elderly
half a world away, touched the hearts of the founders of St Joseph’s Mission
Fund. They manage the organization as volunteers and all contributions support
the work of the Fund. St Joseph’s operates primarily in the southernmost tip of
India – where 60% of the 60,000 people live in abject poverty – supporting
basic necessities like shelter, food, clothing, and drinking water. One orphanage
houses 200 children in an area where many died in the devastating 2004 tsunami. In Kenya, a second orphanage
cares for infants and children with HIV/AIDS. The Social Welfare Center supports an old age home for 20 to 30
residents, a small medical clinic, improved sanitation facilities, well drilling, and an elementary school. Recently,
15 small homes have been constructed (the goal is 50) for those who are homeless. To break the cycle of poverty,
instruction in teaching, typing, embroidery, tailoring, and small engine repair is offered. St Joseph’s helps the very
neediest; your help really makes a difference.
